Artillery Memorials

Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery

    A Field Battery

The A Field Battery Memorial is  located within Sydney’s Victoria Barracks,  where the Unit was based for a good number of its earliest years, and is dedicated to the memory of all those who have served within the Battery since its inception in 1871. The Battery, originally titled as the New South Wales Artillery, is Australia’s longest serving Regular Army unit.

The Memorial is made-up of a 16 pounder RML (rifled muzzle loading) gun, one of those that were served by the Battery during in the 1880’s, a number of the gun’s 16 pounder projectiles and a Dedication Plaque.

The Memorial was officially dedicated in 1972.
