    8th/12th Regiment Memorial

The 8th/12th Regiment Memorial, located within the Regimental Lines at Darwin’s Robertson Barracks, is dedicated “In memory of all those who paid the supreme sacrifice”. The Memorial consists of an L5 105mm Pack Howitzer on a base of pebbles and, spread around the piece, five flat-faced rocks, each bearing a brass plaque.

The first plaque lists three Australian Imperial Force artillery units of The Great War; 101st Howitzer Battery, 102nd Howitzer Battery and 103rd Howitzer Battery. The second plaque is the Dedication Plaque for the Memorial.

The third plaque is dedicated to the officers and men of 101st Field Battery who died on operational service overseas and on training exercises here within Australia, and the fourth plaque lists the operational tours, in both Malaya and South Vietnam, undertaken by 101st Field Battery, 102nd Field Battery and 103rd Field Battery. The fifth plaque is in memory of those members of 12th Field Regiment who gave their lives on operational service in South Vietnam.

The Memorial was dedicated in 2003.
