Warrant Officer Class One Glynn M. Potter
         
         
Warrant Officer Class One Glynn Potter was born on 13 December 1962 in Naracoorte South Australia. He completed secondary schooling at Prince Alfred College in 1979 and enlisted in the Army on 26 August 1980. He was allocated to the RAA and completed his IET Missile Number Course in 1981.

Warrant Officer Class One Potter served in numerous regimental and staff positions within the Air Defence trade including appointments as Battery Sergeant Major of 110 AD Bty (also a short period as BSM 111 AD Bty from Oct – Dec 2001), Regimental Sergeant Major 16th Air Defence Regiment and Staff Officer Ground Based Air Defence & Counter Rocket, Artillery & Mortar within Army Headquarters.

Warrant Officer Class One Potter spent a significant amount of his career in training postings and appointments which included postings to, the 1st Recruit Training Battalion as a Section Commander, The School of Artillery as a Ground Based Air Defence instructor, The Royal Military College as a Training Developer & OC Programming, Headquarters Combat Arms Training Centre as the Sergeant Major Ground Based Air Defence in the Artillery Trade and Policy Cell and The Land Warfare Centre -WA as the Senior Instructor of the Soldier Promotion Section.


Warrant Officer Class One Potter attained a Masters Degree in Professional Education and Training with Deakin University and a Diploma in Training and Assessment in 2007. He also completed the Foundation Studies and Single Service components of the Australian Command and Staff Course in 2010.
 

Warrant Officer Class One Potter had operational service in East Timor with the 4th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment, in Egypt as Regimental Sergeant Major of the Australian Contingent to the Multi-National Force Observer Group and in Afghanistan as Command Sergeant Major of the Counter Insurgency Training Centre – Afghanistan.

Warrant Officer Class One Potter is a keen Bagpiper and has performed as a member of the Australian Army Pipes & Drums – Perth and the Australian Army Band – Sydney. He has also represented Australia on 3 occasions performing as a member of the Massed Pipes & Drums at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland.

1988 1994 Completed positions as a Command Post Sergeant in 111 AD Battery (Light), Rapier Detachment Commander and Rapier Missile Resupply Sergeant in 110 Battery and Troop Sergeant in 111 AD Battery
January 1994 Posted to Air Defence Wing at the School of Artillery in Manly NSW as an Air Defence Instructor
January 1997 Promoted Warrant Officer Class Two and posted to 110 Battery as C Troop Sergeant-Major
January 1999 Posted to the Royal Military College as a Training Developer & OC Programming Cell
January 2000 Appointed Battery Sergeant-Major of 110 AD Battery
January 2001 Detached to 4 RAR (CDO) for OP TANAGER
October 2001 Battery Sergeant-Major of 111 AD Battery
January 2002 Posted to Headquarters Combined Arms Training Centre as Sergeant Major GBAD in the Artillery Trade Policy Cell. In this role he was involved in the development of the Advanced Air Defence Simulator acquisition and Land 19 Phase 6 RBS 70 upgrade project, as well as Competency Mapping of the GBAD trade and the development of GBAD Employment Categorisation Standing Orders.
January 2004 Promoted to Warrant Officer Class One and appointed as the inaugural Regimental Sergeant Major Instructor Gunnery, 16 AD Regiment. In this role he was involved in Introduction into Service of the Advanced Air Defence Simulator and the development of the Land 19 Phase 6 Introduction into Service Training Package.
January 2006 Appointed as the Senior Instructor of Soldier Promotion Section at the Land Warfare Centre (WA)
January 2007 Deployed on OP MAZUKA
January 2008 Appointed RSM 16 AD Regiment. During this appointment he was elected President of the Australian Air Defence Artillery Association and was instrumental in designing and championing the establishment of the Anti-Aircraft and Air Defence Memorial located at Woodside Barracks SA.
January 2010 Attended Australian Command & Staff College
July 2010 Staff Officer GBAD & CRAM within DCCSD-A, Army Headquarters. In this role he was involved with the acquisition of the capabilities deployed to Afghanistan to provide CRAM force protection to the Multi-National Base at Tarin Kout.
January 2011 Appointed as first and last Master Gunner Joint Fires, HQ 6 BDE. In this role he had the Brigade lead in several key enabling processes for the introduction into service of the SHADOW 200 UAS capability within 20 STA and the Sense, Warn, Locate and Air Land Integration capabilities within 16 ALR.
December 2011 Deployed on OP SLIPPER (until July 2012)
January 2014 Commissioned to Captain and posted to 39 Personnel Support Battalion as a Force Preparation Training Team Leader
