Graham (Dougie) Walters was a well-known and respected member of the Veteran community in particular within the brethren of the Royal Australian Artillery (RAA). He first enlisted and served in the Australian Regular Army with a posting to 4th Field Regiment in 1985. He then had postings to 13th Field Battery and then 1st Field Regiment.

He discharged in 1988 but reenlisted in 1990 back into the RAA. He was posted back to 1st Field Regiment, then to 4th Field Regiment in 1994. He then transferred to the Army Reserve in 1996. He served in 11 BASB, 11 TRG GP, 1/9 RNSWR, 4/3 UNSWR, 8/9 RAR, 9RQR, 6 RAR, 41 RNSWR, 25/49 RQR, HQ 11 BDE and 141 SIG SQN.

He was awarded the Australian Defence Medal and Defence Long Service Medal with 3rd Clasp. Graham was an ARA RAA Bombardier and discharged as an ARES RAAOC Corporal.

Graham was a life subscriber of the Royal Australian Artillery Association Queensland Branch (RAAAQ) and was a life member of the QLD RSL, affiliated with Gaythorne RSL Sub-Branch, Mitchelton. Before retiring Graham worked for the Queensland Education Department as a teacher.

Graham passed away on the evening 21 January 2025 on the Gold Coast, after a long battle with cancer. Graham was 65. His funeral service was held at the Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Bay Terrace, Wynnum (Brisbane) on the Friday 31 January 2025 at 11:00am.
