A militia solder, commissioned in Heavy Artillery in 1931, Elwin enlisted in the 2nd AIF in July 1940 at Newcastle and served initially with 2/3 Australian Anti-Tank Regiment then 2/15 Field Regiment and the HQs of the 10 and 11 Australian Infantry Divisions. He discharged in March 1943 with the rank of Major.
Elwin joined the Association in 1952 and as a Life Member. He passed away at the age of 95. Elwin is survived by his daughter Kerry and son Graham. |
