Trevor Raymond Blay was born 15 December 1947 passed away on 7 October 2013 following a short fight with an aggressive cancer. Trevor was a National Serviceman from Taree NSW who joined 105th Field Battery in 1969. He completed a full tour of duty in South Vietnam from 4 February 1969 to 4 February 1970 as a signaller predominantly in the Battery Commanders and Forward Observer parties.
On return to Australia, he became a very active advocate in the RSL for servicemen's disability cases and was a power in the management of the Coffs Harbour RSL sub branch and Services Club. Trevor always called a spade a spade but was well respected for his views. He was the life of a reunion, particularly those that the 105th Field Battery Association held in Coffs Harbour. His wife, Dianne was an integral part of his life and a fun lady at the reunions.
At the Sydney reunion in 2013, Trevor told his mates that he had received a clearance and 'beaten that bloody prostate cancer'. However, it had got into his bones and spread aggressively and he was given only three months' notice of his posting to the Great Gun Park up above.
Ray Chapman attended the funeral and reports a large number of ex service personnel formed a guard of honour for the family at the end of the service. He also said that there were a goodly number of Second Tour Vietnam veterans present. |
