The Sir Roden Cutler VC Artillery Research Centre
(known as the Cutler Research Centre- CRC)

The aim of the CRC is to support the RAAHC to maintain the history and heritage of Australian artillery and respond to requests for information on Australian artillery.

The CRC is located at North Fort, within the North Head Sanctuary and is managed by volunteers who attend the Centre each Wednesday,

The CRC operates “on line” and can be accessed at :

The CRC collection contains most of the documents that were held in the RAAHC library in 2011, when the Army moved the Australian Army Artillery Museum collection from North Fort. Items held in the CRC include books, periodicals, army pamphlets, photos, maps, films, DVDs, personal papers and research files that contain information relevant to the history and heritage of Australian artillery.  CRC records date from Colonial times to the present. The CRC also holds a number of well- developed personal collections gifted from artillery historians.

Additionally, the CRC maintains access to a network of contacts across Australia that have specialist artillery knowledge. They are artillery history researchers who have published their work.  Their assistance is often sought when answering challenging enquiries.

Requests for information about Australian artillery history and heritage that may be held in the CRC may be directed to the CRC: by email to     cutlerresearchcentre@artilleryhistory.org

Charges may apply to cover the costs of research, copying and postage.

Note: The RAAHC welcomes new volunteers who may wish to join the team. There is a wide range of roles available.
