Lieutenant Colonel Scott enlisted in the CMF in 1931 and served In the CMF until he enlisted in the AIF in 1940. He was commissioned in 2/5 Field Regiment in 1942 and served with his unit the remainder of the war. 

 

After the war Lt Col Scott served in several staff and regimental appointments and attended the Australian Staff College In 1950. He was later an instructor at the School of Tactics and Administration before commanding 20 NS Trg Bn from November 1956 to November 1958. 

 

From then until his death on the 9th of March 1964 Lieutenant Colonel Scott served at Army Headquarters, firstly as AQMG, Directorate of Quartering, and then as a GSO1 in the Directorate of Military Training.
