Nordenfelt was a Swedish banker who set up a firm in England.  Nordenfelt merged in 1888 with the Maxim Gun Company to become Maxim Nordenfelt Guns and Ammunitions Company Limited. It was purchased by the British armaments manufacture Vickers in 1897.
