Historical Specifics: |
In 1914 Turkey had four field armies. Between 1914 and 1916 five additional armies were created. These nine armies remained active until the end of the war. An Army would consist of a number of Corps and each Corps a number of Divisions. Though the make-up of each army could vary, by 1918 there were a total of 70 Divisions. In addition to the Infantry and Cavalry, each Division contained an Artillery Regiment with between 24 to 36 field guns. One third of the field artillery utilised the 75 mm Krupp field gun. A lack of modern field guns remained a problem to the end of the war.
Krupp supplied a number of countries with artillery before 1914. These guns were based upon designs of guns he supplied to the German army but in many cases had improvements to original designs. Their calibre was specific to the purchasing country. The 75 mm Model 1904 was a quick firing field gun, with hydro-spring recoil system and single-motion wedge breech mechanism. |
