Historical Specifics: This is one of two trophy guns sent back to Australia by Lieutenant Colonel A A S Chapman on the closing down of the British Commonwealth Base Workshop at Kure, Japan in July 1956. Plates recognizing this event are attached to both guns.

Each also has attached a plate indicating the gun is a RAEME Historical Item accounted for in the historical register of 2 Base Workshop Battalion (plate for this gun could not be viewed to obtain Ref No).

It is believed they had been captured by the Japanese in China and sent back to Japan. The mounting does not allow for elevation or traverse and therefore it appears the gun has been used as a sub-calibre practice weapon. The mount being fixed to a larger naval piece.
