Historical Specifics:The howitzer was captured from the Turkish Army by the Australian Light Horse in Palestine late in World War I. It was given to the Australian War Memorial and transferred to the Lions Club of Cooma in 1968. Originally placed in Lions Park it was refurbished in 2000/01 and relocated to his present position. The sFH 13 (Schweres FeldHaubitze model 1913) was introduced in 1913 and was an upgrade of the sFH 02. It was a very important gun combining mobility and firepower. The German High command stated ‘in this war the sFH13 has become the principal gun of battle.
