Historical Specifics: This field Gun was captured by the 45th Battalion 1st AIF between Warfusee and Morcourt on the morning of 8 August 1918. This day was described by General Ludendorff as the ‘Black day of the German Army’ when the Allies commenced their offensive against the German Army, the offensive that was to lead to the end of the First World War.

The gun shows signs of battle damage and also the ravages of time.
