ARTILLERY REGISTER

         
Manufacturer: CARRON CO.: Falkirk, Stirlingshire; 1759 to 1982
         

Founded by Dr. John Roebuck, Samuel Garbett and William Cadell. The first guns, cast in 1761, were unsuccessful and ordnance of good quality was not produced until 1776. From this date, the company's productions were excellent. Carronades, the design of General Melville and/or Charles Gascoigne ) were produced from 1779, but guns of all types were made in addition.
